By reflecting on this past, we gain deeper compassion for the Vietnamese people and their enduring aspirations for democracy, human rights, and freedom. Just as importantly, we honor the American Vietnam veterans who fought and sacrificed alongside them. Their stories, together with those of the Vietnamese, reveal the shared struggle to preserve identity, dignity, and liberty.
