This April 30 marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, a day most South Vietnamese refer to as Black April. The day will be commemorated with essays, books, conferences, and various events. As a Vietnamese person, I am frequently asked about the war. One piece of advice I often give is this: if you want to truly understand the conflict, avoid reading any books on Vietnam published before 2000. Much of the scholarship written before then was based on many false premises, such as the notion that Communist North Vietnam was a noble liberator, that Democratic South Vietnam was a corrupt American puppet, that the United States was an imperialist invader, and that American soldiers were cowardly, drug-addicted killers.
(NVPF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to education and advocacy. Our mission is to share Vietnam’s true history and support the vision of a democratic future. Through our projects, we bring forward the real stories of the Vietnamese people and their allies during the Vietnam War—from the fight to resist communist aggression, to the struggle of building a humane and democratic society in the midst of conflict, to the lasting hope for a free and independent Vietnam. We invite all who care about truth, freedom, and democracy to join us with your ideas, partnership, and support in carrying this mission forward.

Hơn một ngày đã qua từ buổi ra mắt phim Chiến Tranh Việt Nam Những Chuyện Chưa Kể –Thử Thách, Thành Công, và Thảm Kịch của Miền Nam, chúng tôi xin được gửi lời tri ân đến tất cả quý vị đã đến tham dự và đóng góp. Nếu không có được sự giúp đỡ tận tình của ban tổ chức gồm For The Love of Vietnam, Ước Mơ Việt, Trà Đàm Paris, và Viện Bảo Tàng Di Sản Người Việt Vhm Our Pride thì chúng tôi đã không có được cơ hôi vừa khoe việc làm nhỏ bé của mình vừa được có những lời khuyên bảo vô cùng quý báu của một số khán giả như nhà báo Huynh Luong Thiên hay Nhạc sĩ Nam Lộc. Chúng tôi xin lỗi hội trường đã không có đủ ghế cho những vị đến sau cũng như không có đủ giờ để lắng nghe hay trả lời tất cả quý vị.

Chúng tôi đặc biệt trân trọng những ý kiến đóng góp, những phê bình trong các cuộc trao đổi chân thành của quý vị sau buổi chiếu. Những chia sẻ đó vô cùng quý giá và sẽ giúp chúng tôi tiếp tục chỉnh sửa và hoàn thiện bộ phim, để có thể truyền tải thông điệp một cách rõ ràng, trung thực và mạnh mẽ hơn đến các khán giả mai sau. VIETNAM WAR: UNTOLD STORIES FROM THE SOUTH – TRIALS, TRIUMPHS & TRAGEDIES
More than fifty years have passed since the Vietnam War ended on April 30, 1975.
Time is said to bring clarity. The fog of war should have lifted long ago. Yet simple questions remain clouded in confusion:
Who were the heroes? Who were the villains? Who were the victims?
Was Ho Chi Minh a nationalist fighting for independence—or a communist ruthless dictator who brought mass suffering?
Was the Vietnam War a just struggle against American imperialism—or a calculated invasion of the South, orchestrated by a totalitarian regime from the North?
Our Library
Let us revisit Vietnam’s modern history to better understand her people, culture, and the long struggle to defend a fragile independence against international communist aggression.
This history offers important lessons—from achievements and sacrifices to challenges and mistakes—that explain why Vietnam made the choices it did.
By reflecting on this past, we gain deeper compassion for the Vietnamese people and their enduring aspirations for democracy, human rights, and freedom.
Just as importantly, we honor the American Vietnam veterans who fought and sacrificed alongside them. Their stories, together with those of the Vietnamese, reveal the shared struggle to preserve identity, dignity, and liberty.

“Never Forgotten, Forever Remembered.”
We remember the soldiers of South Vietnam who gave their lives in service to their nation—from the Bến Hải River, where North and South Vietnam were divided, to Cà Mau, the southern tip of the land. We also honor the countless men and women who answered the Republic of Vietnam’s call to serve in government, helping to build and sustain one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant and civilized societies.
From the fall of the Republic of Vietnam in April 1975 through the early 1990s, nearly 1 million Vietnamese fled by boat or on foot across neighboring borders. They braved open seas, storms, pirates, starvation, and the uncertainty of foreign lands, relying on courage, fate, and the compassion of free nations to find refuge. According to the U.N. High Commission for Refugees, up to 400,000 perished at sea. Their suffering and sacrifice will never be forgotten, nor will their losses be in vain.

Vào ngày 23 tháng 11, 2022, tổ hợp luật sư PROCOPIO, CORY, HARGREAVES & SAVITCH LLP đã chính thức nạp đơn kiện Koster Films, LLC, Frederick Koster, BT Production LLC, and Brian Tooker về các tội vi phạm bản quyền, vi phạm hợp đồng, lừa đảo, và làm giàu bất chính.
T Production LLC và Brian Tooker đã thỏa thuận trả lại cho chúng ta các cuôc phỏng vấn và bản quyền. Nhờ vậy chúng tôi tôi đã tiếp xúc với đạo diễn chuyên về thực hiện phim tài liệu, ông Nguyễn Đức. Ông đã đạt nhiều giải thưởng phim ảnh quốc tế với phim Bolinao 52 và ông Đức đã đồng ý viết kịch bản cho hai cuốn video dựa vào nội dung các cuộc phỏng vấn. Sau đó, ông Đức sẽ cùng với Mỹ Vân Phim và SBTN hoàn tất dự án. Chúng tôi dự trù sẽ làm xong trong năm nay và phát hành phim vào 2025 để kỷ niệm 50 năm quốc hận.
