Vy-Dân became a prisoner at just one year old. His father, an officer of the Republic of Vietnam, was executed by the Communists. His mother was sentenced to 18 years in prison. The suffering he endured damaged his health and eventually left him paralyzed.
Yet it never took away his remarkable love of life and thirst for freedom.
Vy-Dân’s story is more than one family’s tragedy. It reflects the resilience and enduring thirst for freedom of generations of Vietnamese.
Prison damaged his body, but it could never imprison his spirit.
