We came for two special screenings of “Vietnam War: Untold Stories of the South — Trials, Triumphs & Tragedies” and left with unforgettable memories, new friendships, and profound gratitude.
At the University of Alaska Anchorage, I was grateful to share the South Vietnamese perspective of the war with students and faculty. Their thoughtful questions and genuine curiosity reminded me why passing these stories on to the next generation matters so much. My sincere thanks to Dr. Katherine St. Clair and Dr. Bianca Trifoi for welcoming us and creating such a meaningful opportunity for dialogue and learning. We loved your cookies.
The screening with Alaska’s Vietnam veterans was even more meaningful. It was an honor to hear their memories and personally thank them and their families for their service and sacrifices. I continue to be inspired by their bravery, humility, patriotism, and camaraderie. Hearing veterans tell me that the documentary had “made a difference” in their lives meant more than I can express.
As a Vietnamese refugee who found freedom and a new life in America, standing before these veterans and thanking them personally was a profound moment of gratitude—one I will carry with me for years to come.
Their friendship and generosity nearly knocked me off my feet. They presented me with an Alaska Vietnam Veteran commemorative coin, which I will treasure as a symbol of remembrance, gratitude, and the enduring bond between Vietnamese refugees and the Americans who served in Vietnam.

And then there is Alaska itself—simply breathtaking. The mountains, glaciers, rivers, brilliant autumn colors, and vast skies are nearly impossible to capture in words or photographs. Alaska is like a beautiful woman—from every and any angle, she reveals something new, and every view can make your heart skip a beat. It is a place you truly have to experience for yourself.
